DESCRIPTION:
APW - Waltham, P.S. Bartlett, pre-Civil War era, 7J, Model 1857, 18S, silver original A.T.&Co. (Appleton, Tracy & Co.) HC, "Appleton. Tracy & Co" marked white enamel dial, KWKS (key not included with this lot), diamond endstone, gilt mvt, s#24580. An attractive original early example, this watch is from a run listed in Waltham factory records as having been finished during August and September of 1859.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with some scattered mild spots; flawless dial; excellent hands, small bits of oxide to tip of minute; case with some markings scribed within front and rear lids, case shows very little wear, an attractive dark patina, some crusty residue (possibly from a sticker or similar) around center rear, shallow dent to front below-left of center, ding or small dent to rear above-left of center, excellent engine turning detail, front lid leaving some gap to band along left side when closed, rear lid leaving narrow gap to band along its left side when closed, front lift spring only opening lid partially and allowing lid to tilt back approximately halfway toward closed with gravity; bow pivots freely, push shows light wear; good glass crystal.
